We are looking for a Java Software Engineer to join our tech hubs in Barcelona, Porto, Madrid or Milan (other locations in Spain, Portugal and Italy are equally possible) to help us shape the future of travel and provide the best holiday experience to over 17 million customers.

As a Java Software Engineer in the Travelshop Domain, you will:

  • Work with top-notch tech stack including Java 11, BigData (Kafka, Cassandra, BigTable, Redis, Neo4j), machine learning models, Datamesh, Docker, Kubernetes, Google Cloud, Sonarqube and Datadog.
  • Be part of a high performing cross functional team of 7-10 developers, plus product managers, UX designers, agile coaches, architects etc. working in collaboration to design, build and evolve the Payments Domain microservices platform
  • Work with a distributed, scalable microservices platform, where software gets deployed daily, with high quality, clean code, SOLID principles, design patterns and TDD
  • Be fully independent when working with the modules your team ows – across all the phases of the SDLC
  • Acquire functional and technical knowledge in all the modules your team owns
  • Work with talented colleagues who will mentor you and help you develop your career super fast.
  • Provide solutions to complex problems – by understanding the problem and the system it sits in, and working with our most senior people to find the best solution that is robust, scalable and has good performance in a high load environment.

  • Work in a fully agile organisation, using Kanban practices to deliver business value continuously, experimenting to deliver more value and be more efficient.
  • Actively participate in team ceremonies and events, as well as product definition and ideation processes.
  • Code the solutions, on a module scope, with the highest quality through good design, attention to detail and test quality. Make use of corporate libraries and tools, while following corporate and team quality standards.
  • Offer suggestions and creative options to deliver technical solutions that improve your product, based on active monitoring of product and technical performance
  • Use your knowledge of Cloud and of Continuous Delivery environments, as well as other software tools to help you deliver value quickly and improve technical excellence

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Excellent understanding of coding fundamentals and strong knowledge and experience with Java and appropriate frameworks/systems
  • Good solid knowledge of principles of programming, including: databases and data structures, object oriented programming, SOLID principles, TDD, concurrency, popular algorithms and APIs etc.
  • Knowledge and experience with distributed, concurrent and scalable systems
  • Strong technical problem solving skills. Creativity and proactivity to come up with creative options to deliver solutions, and identify opportunities to improve.
  • Experience across the software development life cycle (ideally, not just the developing/ coding phase). Ability to do technical analysis, work with UX, test, deploy into production, perform monitoring etc.
  • A growth mindset, seeking opportunities to learn, share and grow continuously.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, comfortable to work in large teams or teams of teams
  • A good level of technical English to collaborate with people across continents and nationalities
  • Proven ability to stay up-to-date on industry trends and understand how to apply them
  • A product mindset, with high level of interest in understanding the product and identifying options to improve it
  • Team player, you enjoy collaborating, sharing your skills and knowledge with others
